Work-related injuries in healthcare are common, preventable, and often underreported, leading to significant clinical, legal, and financial consequences. Effective management requires more than policies—it requires a functional system integrating occupational safety, reporting, and social security compliance.
This Continuing Professional Development (CPD) course provides a structured, practical approach to understanding and applying social security requirements and occupational safety and health (OSH) standards in real clinical settings.
Participants will develop a clear understanding of what constitutes a work-related injury, including occupational diseases, workplace accidents, and commuting injuries. The course emphasizes the legal and clinical importance of accurate documentation, particularly the explicit identification of “work-related” injuries to ensure claim validity and worker protection.
Core components include hazard identification, risk assessment using the Likelihood × Severity model, and implementation of control measures based on the hierarchy of controls, prioritizing system-level interventions over reliance on personal protective equipment (PPE).
The course also covers the structure of effective OSH systems, including the PDCA (Plan–Do–Check–Act) cycle, roles and responsibilities of management and workers, and the importance of a no-blame reporting culture in improving safety outcomes.
Participants will gain practical knowledge of incident reporting workflows, legal deadlines (48-hour notification, 14-day reporting), and the requirements of medical reports that directly impact compensation and legal protection. The course also addresses hazardous occupation classification, occupational health risks in healthcare, and return-to-work strategies.
Through real clinical scenarios, participants will develop the ability to translate regulatory requirements into safe, effective clinical and operational practice.
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
